Thai Massage is usually done on a padded mat which could be a futon mattress of even a Thai mat designed specifically for Thai Massage. Table Thai is an adaptation of the traditional Thai Massage that can be done on a massage table as opposed to a floor mat. While this is not traditional Thai Massage, it will feel familiar to those who’ve experienced the traditional version. Like traditional Thai Massage, Table Thai provides an interactive manipulation of the body by applying passive stretching and pressure along energy lines in the body. The experience will be familiar to those who have had Shiatsu, Acupressure, or studied yoga.

The Table Thai therapist will apply pressure along meridian lines with the hands, thumbs, and feet in order to alleviate disruptions in the flow of energy in the body, thus stimulating the movement of energy throughout the body. In addition, the client’s legs, arms, shoulders and hips will be moved and stretched to free muscular and joint tension. Table Thai is meant to be relaxing and stimulating, and has also been found to improve flexibility, reduce tension, stimulate internal organs, and balance the body’s energy system. Quite often knowledgeable and experienced massage therapists familiar with Thai Massage will incorporate Table Thai into their more traditional table massage sessions.
